1. General Information Only — No Professional Advice
Online-Compass.com (hereafter the “Service”, the “Website” or “we/our/us”) and every tool it publishes, including the home page digital compass, the Vastu Compass, the Qibla Finder, the Elevation & Altitude Tool, the Magnetic Declination Calculator, and every article on our blog, is provided for general informational and educational purposes only. Nothing published on the Service constitutes professional navigational, architectural, religious, engineering, surveying, aviation, maritime, medical, financial, legal or safety advice.
The contents of the Service are not a substitute for consultation with a certified surveyor, registered architect, licensed navigator, qualified Vastu consultant, recognised Islamic scholar or any other appropriately credentialed professional. You should always verify critical values against an official authority such as NOAA/NCEI (for the World Magnetic Model), your local geodetic survey, the imam of your local mosque, or the relevant civil-aviation/maritime body before acting on them.
2. “As Is” & “As Available” — No Warranties
The Service is provided strictly on an “AS IS”, “AS AVAILABLE” and “WITH ALL FAULTS” basis. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the founder, the Online-Compass development team, our volunteer contributors, translators, moderators, hosting partners and every other person associated with the Service (collectively the “Protected Parties”) expressly disclaim all warranties, conditions and representations of every kind, whether express, implied, statutory or otherwise, including but not limited to the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, completeness, availability, uptime, error-free operation, security or freedom from viruses or other harmful components.
No information, whether oral or written, obtained by you from the Service or through any channel operated by us shall create any warranty that is not expressly stated in this document.
3. Sensor, GPS & Magnetic-Field Accuracy
Every reading displayed by the Service — heading, bearing, zone, declination, elevation, latitude, longitude, distance, speed — is derived entirely from the sensors inside your own device: the magnetometer (MEMS Hall-effect chip), the accelerometer, the gyroscope and the GNSS/GPS receiver. The Service merely reads, interprets and displays what those sensors report through the W3C Generic Sensor / DeviceOrientation / Geolocation APIs.
Consumer MEMS sensors are subject to significant real-world error. Known sources of inaccuracy include — but are not limited to — magnetic interference from steel rebar, electrical wiring, vehicles, loudspeakers, laptops and magnetic phone cases; un-calibrated gyroscope drift; GPS multipath inside dense urban canyons or forests; insufficient satellite visibility; tilt-compensation error; outdated World Magnetic Model tables; browser throttling; and manufacturing variance between individual devices. You accept that any value the Service shows can be wrong by several degrees and several tens of metres, and that you must never rely on such a value where an error could endanger life, health, property or legal rights.
4. Navigation, Aviation, Marine & Emergency Use Prohibited
The Service is not a certified navigation instrument. It is not approved under ICAO, IMO, FAA, EASA, DGCA, IALA or any equivalent authority. You must not use Online-Compass.com or any of its tools as the primary or sole navigation reference for:
- commercial or private aviation of any kind, including drones and UAVs operating beyond visual line of sight;
- maritime navigation, including recreational boating, sailing, fishing, diving or life-raft use;
- search-and-rescue, firefighting, mountaineering, caving, back-country skiing or desert crossings;
- military, law-enforcement or security operations of any description;
- surveying, construction set-out, cadastral work, boundary disputes or any legally binding measurement;
- emergency wayfinding when your safety, or the safety of anyone around you, depends on the reading.
In any of the above contexts you must carry a certified magnetic or gyro compass, a professional-grade GNSS receiver, up-to-date paper charts and any other equipment mandated by the competent authority.
5. Vastu Shastra — Cultural & Traditional Content Only
The Vastu Compass, the 16-zone Purusha Mandala overlay, room-by-room recommendations, deity and element attributions, and any remedy (“upay”) mentioned on the Service describe a traditional Indian architectural and cultural system. They are not scientifically validated claims and are not a substitute for:
- advice from a licensed architect or civil engineer regarding structural safety, drainage, ventilation, seismic design or building codes;
- advice from a certified Vastu consultant or spiritual teacher of your own tradition;
- local bye-laws, development-control rules and planning-permission requirements.
No outcome — financial prosperity, marital harmony, health, academic success, business growth or any other result — is guaranteed from following any Vastu suggestion displayed on the Service. You follow such suggestions at your own discretion and at your own risk.
6. Qibla Direction — Reasonable Estimate, Not a Religious Ruling
The Qibla Finder computes the initial great-circle bearing from your device's reported GPS position to the Kaaba at 21.4225° N, 39.8262° E. We present this as a best-effort computational estimate to assist Muslims in forming a sincere intention of facing Makkah. We do not issue fatwa, we are not an Islamic authority, and the Service is not endorsed by any mosque, council, dār al-iftāʾ or scholar. If you require an authoritative Qibla direction — particularly for the construction of a prayer niche (miḥrāb), a new mosque, or any permanent installation — you must consult the imam of your local mosque and, where applicable, a licensed surveyor. We accept no responsibility for religious, jurisprudential or communal disputes that may arise from reliance on our computed bearing.
7. Magnetic Declination & Elevation Estimates
The Magnetic Declination Calculator uses an interpolated approximation built on the World Magnetic Model (WMM-2025) and a limited set of reference cities. The authoritative source is NOAA/NCEI at ngdc.noaa.gov. Elevation values shown by the Elevation & Altitude Tool come from the GNSS altitude your device reports to the browser; this is a raw ellipsoidal height that can differ from orthometric (above-mean-sea-level) elevation by tens of metres depending on the local geoid and atmospheric conditions. Neither value is suitable for legal, aeronautical or engineering purposes.
8. Limitation of Liability — Founder & Team Protection
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall the founder, the Online-Compass development team, our volunteer contributors, translators, moderators, hosting providers, officers, employees, agents, licensors, successors or assigns (collectively the “Protected Parties”) be liable to you or to any third party for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, punitive or consequential damages whatsoever, including but not limited to loss of life, personal injury, emotional distress, loss of profits, loss of revenue, loss of business, loss of goodwill, loss of data, loss of use, property damage, religious distress, family or community disputes, construction-cost overruns, legal fees, fines, penalties, or any other intangible loss — arising out of or in any way connected with:
- your access to or use of, or inability to access or use, the Service;
- any reading, bearing, zone, declination, distance or elevation value displayed, whether correct or not;
- any decision you take, or omit to take, on the basis of content published on the Service;
- any interruption, error, defect, delay in operation, virus, transmission error or line failure;
- any action taken by a third party in reliance on information you obtained from the Service;
- any matter beyond our reasonable control, including force majeure events.
The aggregate, cumulative liability of all the Protected Parties to you for every claim arising out of or related to the Service shall not exceed one hundred Indian Rupees (₹100) or the equivalent in your local currency, regardless of the cause of action and regardless of whether the Protected Parties were advised of the possibility of such damages.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain warranties or damages; in those jurisdictions, our liability shall be limited to the smallest amount permitted by the applicable law. Nothing in this disclaimer is intended to exclude or limit any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
9. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless each of the Protected Parties from and against any and all claims, demands, actions, proceedings, damages, liabilities, losses, costs and expenses (including reasonable legal fees and court costs) arising out of or related to:
- your use or misuse of the Service;
- your violation of this Disclaimer or of any applicable law or third-party right;
- any content you transmit, submit, post or make available through the Service;
- any decision you, or anyone acting on your behalf, take in reliance on content published on the Service.
10. Third-Party Content, Links & Trademarks
The Service contains references to and links to third-party websites, standards, models and organisations (for example, NOAA, W3C, Google Maps, the World Magnetic Model, the U.S. Geological Survey, and religious or cultural institutions). Those references are provided for your convenience only. We do not endorse, control or assume responsibility for the content, accuracy, privacy practices or availability of any third-party resource. Names, logos and trademarks referenced on the Service remain the property of their respective owners and are used under fair-use / nominative-use principles for identification only.

We may update, modify, suspend or discontinue any part of the Service — including this Disclaimer itself — at any time, without prior notice and without liability. The version of the Disclaimer in force is always the version published at https://online-compass.com/fr/disclaimer. You are responsible for reviewing this page periodically. Your continued use of the Service after any revision constitutes your acceptance of the revised Disclaimer.
12. Severability & Entire Agreement
If any provision of this Disclaimer is found by a court of competent jurisdiction to be unlawful, void or unenforceable, that provision shall be deemed severable from this Disclaimer and shall not affect the validity and enforceability of the remaining provisions. This Disclaimer, together with our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service, constitutes the entire agreement between you and the Protected Parties with respect to the Service.

This Disclaimer is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with this Disclaimer or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts located in India. By using the Service, you irrevocably consent to that jurisdiction and venue.
